'Gordon Brown has called for an end to the "blockage" caused by Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land to make 2009 the "year of peace" in the Middle East' reports the Guardian. He has recognised that the Arabs are making serious efforts for peace in the region. Brown also 'urged Barack Obama to build on an Arab initiative to end the conflict.'
Finally, we are not following the Bush/Conservative agenda; the UK Government and Britain may help, if only in diplomatic ways, to start a sustainable peace in this area that has seen so much bloodshed and has been the main sticking point for relations with the Middle East for generations.
I could say something about "reparations" and "rebuilding" in sarcasm, but I won't bother.
