Opportunity Knocks  (employment, web development, Mongoloid, Want 2 Work)  posted on Monday 26th of November 2007 at 7.36 pm

I have a job interview on this coming Friday!
I can hopefully stop being a "beggar", "scrounger" and whatnot.

Before I tell you about that, I'm doing a bit of an entry again on who I am, my background/work history etc.

I spent a few years longer than I should have getting *to* university after an education at Rhyl High School and then Kelsterton College, Deeside, to actually get me the qualification I needed to enter Higher Education.

On finishing uni I came back to North Wales with my then girlfriend, and worked as a (temp) labourer (material handler) in the closeby Hotpoint factory. I managed to get a job with them as a storeman after applying for it (still temp), unloading wagons n whatnot, doing stores work. I got finished there as it was the end of the temp contract. I then got a phonecall from people there regarding a job coming up as a "Kanban Operative" with a firm called 'Trutite' who were taking on the job of supplying the production lines with nuts and bolts etc. I worked for them for maybe 18 months.

I then managed to break my heel which meant that I was unable to do the supplying direct to line work, which was on my feet all the time. I was sat at home and knew that, to work, I had to get another trade. I had a computilator, so used that and learnt web design. I made a web site for the employers I was with before the accident, but they decided not to use it.

Scout Enterprises logo I then, with the help of 'Scout Enterprises' (who help disabled people), got on to a work placement with ELWa (Education and Learning Wales), a body that (when it existed) oversaw.. believe it or not, education and learning.. in Wales.

I made various internal communication tools, and then remade their public facing external website using ASP.NET, with SQL Server to store page content. This was again temporary employment on a temporary contract. It was weeks away to there being a full-time position available which I could apply for (and have a pretty good chance of getting) when I was involved in an RTA whilst I was asleep in the back of my mate's car.

That meant for me a brain injury (see http://www.tbi.org/html/faq_-_english.html ), a broken shoulder and collarbone.

The sort of stroke that resulted from the head injury happened on the same side of my body as the breaks, so it made it all 'a bit of a chore' ;) I relearnt how to speak, walk, write, do stuff on making web pages, made the Vale of Clwyd Constituency Labour Party website as a sort of practice. Still to do is the brain injury help web site that I have planned (and half made) here.

I have heard about the opportunity of employment I mentioned earlier because of the "Want 2 Work" scheme that operates here; those who need and want that extra help can get it with the help of these people.

A bit nervous; I hope my speech holds out for the whole thing :)

Anyway, I wish me luck on Friday! :)

[update] I didn't get the job, oh well. Experience for me, I hope to hell that I get the next job that I apply for, brain damaged imbecile klub footed mongoloid from United Krapness that I am :)

hellyes.
